Keep Going. Your Practice Matters.

As a coaching client casually shared in a recent session an instance of kind yet assertive boundary-holding that was, to my ears, reflective of a deep shift toward greater self-trust, I was reminded how simultaneously subtle yet profound the incremental changes that accrue on our mindful, whole-Self-integrating path can be.

So subtle and cumulative that the core-level transformations we go through can be easy to miss the profundity of unless we really tune in.

So much of our mindfulness and integration practices – tuning into the moments of our inner experience with warm, curious, nonjudgmental awareness – are about cultivating an unshakable self-trust (internally), which manifests as resilience (externally).

Over time and through lots of practice, we start to notice we bounce back faster from lows and intense, challenging emotions than we used to.

We notice we’re able to feel more grounded amidst chaos.

We notice we're a little less resistant to things we don't want to happen when they happen.

We notice that instead of descending into the depths of despair for long periods of time, we still scrape the bottom sometimes, but we’re better able to feel our emotions, process and grieve when that’s what’s called for, and bounce back to our homeostatic set-point and center more quickly and more easily than we used to.

We notice we become better at standing on firmly centered ground between denying or dissociating from difficult realities or willfully attaching ourselves to joyful ones, pretending they’ll stick around forever.

We notice we become better able to hang out in the space between despair and urgency when something doesn’t go the way we want it to go.

We become better able to touch into a sense of joy, peace or contentment even within the liminal space between what we have and what we want.

These are all forms of emotional resilience.

Our practice of mindfulness, loving-kindness and self-compassion helps us be more flexible in these ways, which we notice particularly when big “waves” crash over us in this life.

All of which is to say, your practice and commitment matter.

Our individual practice is never actually individual. It’s always interwoven with collective well-being.

So keep going.

Keep practicing connecting to yourself and the present moment.

Keep strengthening your muscle of kindness towards yourself and others.

Keep noticing the small, incremental changes that eventually accrue toward transformative tipping points in how you relate to yourself, others and the world in a more spacious, loving way.

Keep walking this conscious and connected path forward.

Transformation is happening within you even if it’s below the surface of conscious awareness as you continue to just keep taking consistent, intentional steps forward.

The world needs your thoughtful, heart-centered practice and intention.

So keep going.

With Love,

Melissa
